Meet Winnie

Winnie is a 5 year old, piebald, 11.3hh, cob type mare, looking for a home as a project pony where she can build her confidence and potentially progress on to become a riding pony.

Winnie arrived with another pony named Albert in 2021 after they were found abandoned in a carpark of an arts centre. Winnie was only 6 months old and was quite unwell. She was also very nervous. With time and gentle rehabilitation, Winnie started to improve and she is now fit and well and looking for her forever home. She is very well behaved for routine handling and forms a strong bond with her handler when she gets to know them. She enjoys being groomed, but is a sensitive girl so is looking for an experienced home that can work with her at her pace. At HorseWorld, she has been progressing with the training team and she can now be fully tacked up, lunged, long lined and go for in hand walks. She hasn't been backed but shows good promise as a riding pony. Her backing weight limit would be around 50kg so she would need a confident child or small adult to bring her on.

Winnie currently Iives out 24/7 in a mixed herd and gets on well with other horses. Her grazing needs to be restricted in the summer months as she is prone to weight gain. She is good to stable, but doesn't currently stable as part of a routine. Winnie is happy to be exercised on her own, but would need further training to be left on her own if she were to be kept with one other equine that is also exercised.

We believe that Winnie would thrive on a quiet yard with consistent herd mates, with an experienced person to love her. Please get in touch if you think this person could be you!
