About HorseWorld Trust

Established in 1952, HorseWorld Trust is a registered charity based in Whitchurch, near Bristol, committed to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing horses, ponies and donkeys in need. Our Welfare department provides a home to all our new arrivals, including sick, neglected and traumatised horses, ponies and donkeys. We have a team of trained staff committed to their care and rehabilitation and eventual re-homing. HorseWorld also runs a ground-breaking educational programme called Discovery which supports emotional growth and learning in young people through hands-on experience with our rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.

About the Role

Based at Keynes Farm, this role is full time, based on a two-year fixed term contract over an average of 35 hours per week. Working a 7-hour day between 8am to 4pm with a half hour unpaid rest break. Days to be worked on a rota determined by the requirements of the team, to include working one weekend in four.  This is a hands on role working with the team across our 160 acre site south of Bristol.

Salary: £38,000 per annum plus benefits.


What You Will Be Doing

Land and Estate Management

  • Develop and implement long-term land management plans to enhance the current site, support equine welfare and our Discovery programme.
  • Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across our land and buildings.
  • Lead enhancement projects, ensuring compliance with funding agreements.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Ensure all estate management activities meet health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee contractor compliance and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records and attend monthly onsite H&S meetings.

Financial and Procurement Management

  • Manage the estate budget efficiently, ensuring best value procurement.
  • Obtain competitive quotes for contracted works and oversee invoicing processes.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead the Estate Maintenance Team, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
  • Provide training and development opportunities.
  • Manage performance and ensure high standards are maintained.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth estate operations.
  • Provide estates-related expertise across the Charity.
  • Ensure onsite events are prepared and run smoothly.


What You Will Bring

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Industry qualification in rural estate management.
  • Strong site safety and risk management knowledge (NEBOSH or IOSH desirable).
  • Proven experience in estate management, contractor oversight, and site enhancement.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and IT skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
