Einstein's Story

Fighting to survive...

When Einstein arrived at HorseWorld, he was in a truly desperate and heart-breaking state. Rescued from a dark, filthy barn where 12 horses had been cruelly left to die, this young horse had already endured unimaginable suffering. He was severely underweight, his body weakened from lack of food and care, and he had never been properly handled by people, making every experience frightening and overwhelming for him.

On top of this neglect, Einstein was battling not one but two serious illnesses - salmonella and strangles, a highly contagious and dangerous bacterial infection that spreads rapidly among horses. As if that wasn’t enough, he also carried a large abscess on his head that had become infected, causing him constant pain and distress. It was clear he had been left to suffer for far too long.

When the HorseWorld team first saw him, it was devastating. To witness such a young horse, with his whole life ahead of him, already so poorly and shut down from fear was incredibly sad. He was not just physically fragile, but emotionally too - scared, withdrawn, and fighting for his very survival.

On the road to  recovery...

Once back at HorseWorld, he was treated for his infections, put on a special diet and was given a good groom to remove the matting in his hair. Thanks to the dedication of HorseWorld's welfare team and the support of people like you, Einstein slowly began to recover.

It took time, patience, and an incredible amount of love – and after many months of healing, Einstein was up to full health. He spent many years at HorseWorld completing a training programme before he was ready to start looking for a new home.

He went out on loan to two different loan homes but unfortunately he was unable to settle both times and was returned to HorseWorld. However, we didn't give up on finding him his perfect home and in 2024 he was rehomed to Helen - third time lucky!

Finding a  forever home...

Thankfully this time Einstein has settled in well and is living alongside familiar face Tiny Tim, another one of HorseWorld's rescues.

His rehomer, Helen says: "When I lost my Welsh Section D Mare a few years ago, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever have another pony of my own. I went along to HorseWorld's Open Day and after meeting Einstein I knew he was special. Fast forward to now and all I can say is I love and adore him!

"We’ve spent loads of time together making small steps and with lots of praise he has gained trust in me. I know his confidence will continue to grow but I can definitely say he's feeling settled, and this is only the start for us!”
