Dallas' rescue from neglect...
When Dallas first arrived at HorseWorld back in 2009, she was one of seven horses rescued from a farm that had sadly become overwhelmed. The owner had tried to start a sanctuary but the situation spiralled out of control. The horses were living in dreadful conditions - thin, depressed, and surrounded by muck. To make matters worse, there was an outbreak of strangles on site - a highly contagious bacterial infection that affects a horse’s respiratory system, causing fever, nasal discharge, and painful swollen glands. Many of the horses were weak and vulnerable, struggling to recover in such poor conditions.
Among them was Dallas - a beautiful mare who had completely shut down from the trauma she’d endured. She was incredibly underweight and clearly had lost all trust in people. But our team knew that, with time, patience, and love, there was hope for her.
The road to recovery...
Once safely at HorseWorld, Dallas began her long journey of rehabilitation. Our team worked tirelessly to nurse her back to health, providing nutritious feed, gentle handling, and plenty of quiet reassurance. Slowly but surely, her spark began to return. As her strength improved, Dallas began working with our expert training team. She was carefully introduced to groundwork and, eventually, was backed under saddle. Despite her difficult start, Dallas showed a natural willingness to learn and started to enjoy her sessions. Bit by bit, she began to trust again - and even started to show her cheeky, affectionate side!
Finding her forever home...
In 2011, HorseWorld began searching for a special home where Dallas could continue her training and ridden work - and that’s when Natasha came into her life. From the very start, it was clear that they were meant to be together. Natasha fell in love with Dallas straight away, and under her care, Dallas truly blossomed.
The pair quickly formed a deep and lasting bond. Natasha gave Dallas the happy, secure home she had always deserved, and together they’ve taken the horse world by storm! From show jumping to dressage, Dallas has proved that rescue horses can achieve incredible things when given a second chance.
Today, Dallas and Natasha are the perfect partnership. Their relationship is built on trust, respect, and love, and it shines through in everything they do. Watching Dallas grow from a frightened, malnourished young horse into a confident, talented mare is a powerful reminder of why HorseWorld’s rescue and rehoming work is so important.
