Black Jack's Story

HorseWorld rescued little Black Jack in 2019 with three other ponies Barney, Charlie and Cloud from another animal charity that had unfortunately become overwhelmed. The charity were at capacity and desperately needed to reduce numbers to ensure the ponies in their care could get the treatment they urgently need. Black Jack arrived very thin, malnourished and had a high worm burden.

Black Jack was believed to have originally come from Dartmoor so was nervous of humans and had very little experience of handling. After having time to mature and enjoy his youth in the HorseWorld herd, our team started a personalised training plan with him including groundwork, handling and de-sensitization. In 2021, Black Jack found a loan home with Emma and her daughter Grace. Since then his confidence has grown and he has developed into a perfect child's ridden pony!

Emma says: "He is such a superstar and is doing so well with us. We love him so much and he’s so happy loving his life as a kids pony. I may be bias but they make the cutest pair!"
