Albert's Story

Abandoned little Albert...

Albert’s story began in the most heart-breaking of circumstances. He and a tiny 6-month-old filly named Winnie were found abandoned on National Trust land. Their previous “owner,” a homeless individual, had recently purchased both ponies from a dealer. Before that, they had been left tied to a fence in the car park of an art centre, awaiting collection. Fortunately, the RSPCA and our team stepped in, ensuring both of these young ponies were rescued from a precarious situation. When Albert arrived at HorseWorld, it quickly became clear he had not had the best start in life. Our team discovered he was suffering from one of the worst cases of worms they had ever seen. He was underweight, weak, and in urgent need of veterinary care. Despite this, Albert’s gentle nature shone through, showing the resilience that would carry him through his recovery.

From rescue to  recovery...

Albert and Winnie were given round-the-clock attention from our dedicated team at HorseWorld. With carefully planned nutrition, deworming treatment, and lots of love, Albert began to regain his strength. Meanwhile, Winnie thrived under the same nurturing care, and the bond between the two ponies grew stronger every day as their health steadily improved. Once fully recovered, Albert’s cheeky personality started to shine, revealing the great potential he had always possessed. After settling into his new routine at HorseWorld, our expert grooms designed a personalised training plan to build his confidence with people. Thanks to the dedication of our team and Albert’s trust and willingness to learn, he was ready to take the next step in his journey - a forever home where he could continue to flourish.

Albert's happy ending...

In 2023, just two years after his rescue, Albert found his forever home with Emmaline - one of our Trustees at HorseWorld and her pony cob, Bruce. After all the care, rehabilitation, and training he received, Albert was finally able to enjoy the safe, loving environment he had always deserved - a happy ending to a remarkable journey. "I genuinely couldn't be more proud of Albert. His attitude towards overcoming some of the worries he still carries with him is incredible - he always wants to trust and try. Albert has really started to enjoy affection, which is lovely to watch. I couldn't imagine being without Albert now. He is the cheekiest and happiest of souls. A huge heartfelt thank you to HorseWorld for trusting me with him," says Albert's rehomer, Emmaline.
