Meet Smudge

Smudge arrived at HorseWorld in 2020, in a group of 15 cobs. She is an 8 year old, 13hh piebald cob mare, mainly white but with a smudge of black marking on her face and side. On arrival she was nervous and unhandled but, with patient rehabilitation, she has become a sweet pony who enjoys human attention. Smudge is looking for a home as a non-ridden companion, where she can build a bond with her handler. She is generally easy to handle but can sometimes be a little head shy when putting on her headcollar, especially with new people, but this improves as she gets to know you.

Smudge currently lives in a mixed herd and generally gets on well with other horses, though she can be dominant around food. She manages well across varying terrain in winter, but Smudge benefits from restricted grazing over the summer months, as she is prone to weight gain. She has not needed rugging or any supplementary hard feed whilst being here at HorseWorld. Smudge lives out 24/7, she could stable as part of a routine but would need time to adjust to this. She could go for in hand walks and is soft and responsive to lead. Smudge is happy to be without an equine friend for short periods, so could make a good companion for a ridden horse. She loves to be groomed which is very handy as she is mostly white and has feathered legs which need maintaining!

Smudge benefits from a 1:1 handler and has a lovely relationship with her current groom. We feel she would thrive on a home where she can make a bond with her person - she will make a loving and rewarding companion for the right person.
