Harnessing Horsepower to Change Young Lives

A partnership vision between HorseWorld and the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

Bristol International Balloon Festival and HorseWorld are embarking on a three year horse-powered partnership, building a lasting legacy for the city of Bristol. Through the spirit and energy of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, and by harnessing the collective horsepower of Bristol’s communities, businesses and visitors, this partnership will bring the city together to support its next generation.

The Partnership Plan

A Three Year Vision

Year 1 – Balance

Create a calm SEN sensory Heart Zone at the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and introduce HorseWorld to thousands of visitors.

Year 2 – Strength

Launch the Horsepower Challenge in the Balloon Arena and invite the city to move together through the Around Bristol in 50 Ways campaign.

Year 3 – Movement

Celebrate 50 years of the Fiesta with an installation of 50 decorated horse sculptures created by Bristol schools.

Building a City on Horsepower

Bristol is a city built on horsepower. For generations the rhythm of hooves powered the city’s streets, docks and industry. HorseWorld was founded in 1952 to protect the horses that helped build Bristol. Today the charity continues that legacy by rescuing horses and helping vulnerable young people rediscover their strength through the power of horses.

The Challenge Facing Young People

Thousands of young people across Bristol struggle to engage with mainstream education due to additional needs, trauma or disadvantage.
