Our Impact

HorseWorld are committed to help change the lives or horses and young people in need.

In 2027 we will be 75 years old, however, we are already looking beyond that and towards our centenary in 2052, to ensure we can continue Mabel Cocksedge’s legacy of People Helping Horses, Helping People.

To make sure we continue to fulfil our purpose in a changing world, we are creating a roadmap to 2052.

Over the next five years we have three specific ambitions. We will:

1. Utilise many years of experience, robust evidence and a deep understanding of the horse, to deliver a world class, horse centred rescue and rehabilitation programme to improve the welfare of horses in our local community.

2.Establish a centre of excellence in the provision of equine assisted learning to young people, with a scalable model to benefit all members of society.

3. Prepare to scale up the positive impact of our work with humans and horses, by working in collaboration with others across the UK to expand our work through education and outreach.

We work alongside the police, fire and rescue services, local authorities, vets and other charities to rescue horses, ponies and donkeys across the South West of England.

Horses that come into HorseWorld's care often need emergency care and we have vets on call 24 hours a day to assist with rescues. Our dedicated equine team work around the clock to save the lives of horses.

Once we rescue a horse and it has been nursed back to health, we can begin rehabilitation work. Our expert training team take a gentle, patient approach, helping each horse—often with an unknown or traumatic history—rebuild trust, confidence, and security. While some horses go on to enjoy new ridden careers, others with long-term psychological or physical challenges are given a quiet life as much-loved companion ponies.

All the horses here have a unique story to tell. No matter how long they stay with us, one thing is certain - every horse, pony, and donkey that comes into HorseWorld’s care will know what it feels like to be truly loved and safe.
