Meet Harry

Harry is a handsome 17 year old 14.3hh, Chestnut Welsh Section D looking for a new home as a non-ridden field companion. HorseWorld took Harry in in 2021 as sadly his previous owners could no longer care for him due to their own health issues. Harry initially took a while to settle in but with time he found his feet and progressed well with his training. He was brought into work by our training team, before being rehomed as a light ridden hack. Sadly, after a year of being on loan, Harry had some lameness issues so returned to HorseWorld. Since being back on site he has been assessed by our vets and has been passed as field sound. We are now looking for a non-ridden home for Harry, where he can relax at pasture with a permanent equine friend.

Harry needs to be kept in a gelding only environment, ideally living out 24/7 with access to shelter. He does get separation anxiety so it is important that he would always have a constant equine friend by his side. He does well on grass over summer, only needing extra hay over the winter months. Though if needed, he can be rugged and a have a small feed to help him hold his condition.

Harry is generally good to handle but he can find new situations stressful, although he has mellowed with age. Harry enjoys routine and can take time to adapt to change. We are looking for an experienced handler for him who has the time and patience to work with him, build a bond, and help him settle. When he returned to HorseWorld for the second time he settled back in quite quickly, so we are hopeful he won't take too long to adjust in his next chapter.

Harry is good with other horses and gets on well with youngsters and older equines of all shapes and sizes. He can live in a small or larger herd, but if he were to be rehomed with just one equine friend we would expect him to become very attached to his equine companion, which would need to be managed accordingly.

This handsome boy truly deserves to find a peaceful understanding home where he can relax into a companion role for the rest of his years.
