Meet Ernie

Ernie came to HorseWorld in 2013 after being rescued from severe neglect. Underweight, unhandled and in poor condition, he needed urgent care and a lot of patience to help him recover. With expert veterinary treatment, careful farriery and a nutritious diet, Ernie slowly regained his strength, and just as importantly, learned that people could be trusted.

As his confidence grew, Ernie’s true personality began to shine. Gentle, affectionate and kind, he discovered that he loved human company. He went on to enjoy life beyond the rescue yard, taking part in shows, fun rides and public events, where his calm nature and charm won many admirers. His success in the show ring was remarkable, proving just how far he had come from his difficult start.

In 2025, Ernie returned to HorseWorld and found a new purpose on the Discovery programme. Today, his friendly, patient nature and genuine love of people help vulnerable young people and children build confidence, trust and emotional resilience.

Ernie would make a perfect sponsor pony and loyal friend. He thrives on attention and loves meeting new people, meaning he would truly enjoy taking part in sponsor events, meet-and-greets and special days. Ernie has a wonderful way of making everyone feel welcome, and he would be delighted to share his journey with those who choose to support him.
