Meet Spirit

Spirit arrived at HorseWorld at the start of 2025 because her owner had sadly passed away and she needed a new home. On arrival, it was clear she had not been handled or caught for a while, so we started a patient rehabilitation plan. Once she began to trust us, she came around quite quickly and integrated into our main herd. She has since progressed well with her handling, and we now feel she is ready to find a forever home as a non-ridden companion.

This pretty grey mare is an 18-year-old Dartmoor x Welsh breed standing at 14hh. Over the last year, she has settled in well and now loves human attention. She is an easy addition to a herd, getting along with all other horses. As an active member of the group, she happily lives with both mares and geldings. Spirit needs restricted grazing in the spring and summer months and would really suit a track system. She hasn’t needed hard feed—just hay in the winter and careful monitoring going into spring to ensure she doesn't become overweight.

Ideally, Spirit would live out 24/7 with access to a shelter. While she has been stabled overnight here, she finds it stressful as a routine. She would love a home where she can enjoy a regular groom; she always comes to the fence to greet you and is a friendly character who seeks out interaction. She is good to handle and well-behaved for routine visits from the vet, farrier, and dentist. Spirit isn't keen on being left alone, so she is looking for a home where she will always have an equine friend.
