Meet Roo
Roo came to HorseWorld in 2023 having being seized by the RSPCA. She was underweight, suffering from rain scald and lame on arrival. With patient rehabilitation she has made a great recovery and has blossomed into a sweet young mare who loves affection. Due to previous injury and scarring on a hind leg, she is looking for a home as a non-ridden companion, where she can continue her handling with an experienced adult.
Roo is a large Warmblood cross mare with striking skewbald markings, standing at 17hh. She is now 7 years old but still needs a competent handler to continue to build her confidence - she can become strong when something startles her, but she does calm down again quickly. Overall, she is a willing learner who has the potential to become a polite and well rounded equine companion.
A home that can offer another larger horse as her friend would be best suited to Roo. She tends to buddy up with the other larger mares here so could make a good friend for another mare or gelding over 15hh. Roo has been living out 24/7 on varying terrain with access to shelter. She hasn't needed any grazing restrictions and has held her condition well. She has not needed to be rugged or have hard feed, just access to ad lib hay over the winter months. She can be stabled but due to her size prefers larger barns, although with consistency she could learn to be in a stabling routine. Roo has never been left alone so an environment where she can always be with other horses would be ideal.
The team have worked really hard with Roo to get her to the healthy horse she is today - we think she will make a rewarding handling project for the right person and truly deserves to find her forever home where she can relax into a companion role.
