Meet Polly

Polly came to HorseWorld in November 2025 through the RoR’s vulnerable horse scheme due to her owners declining health. We are looking for a non-ridden companion home for Polly as she is retired from ridden work due to lameness issues. She is a 16.1hh, 17 year old, Thoroughbred bay mare and would suit a home that can offer her a similar sized horse to be friends with.

Currently, Polly lives out 24/7 on varying terrain in a mare’s herd, she is good to be stabled although not currently in a routine. She enjoys being groomed and interaction with people, but is not one to stand for hours of pampering. Polly is happy to be brought to the yard and groomed on her own however she is not keen on being stabled or left in the field on her own so is looking for a home where she would have consistent equine company.

Over the summer months an element of restricted grazing would benefit Polly, as she is no longer in work she can gain weight more easily. Winter time she can be rugged and supplemented with hay to help her hold her condition. Polly currently doesn’t need any hard feed. For routine visits from vet/farrier Polly is good to handle. She is barefoot now so would suit a home where she won’t have to walk across stoney surfaces regularly.

Retired in a herd of mares would be a well fitting home for Polly, she has buddied up with our mare Roo who is also available for rehoming so could appeal to someone looking for a pair of horses to rehome. Please get in touch if you think you could offer this.
