HorseWorld is a Bristol based charity dedicated to saving the lives of abandoned, neglected and mistreated horses, ponies and donkeys. The charity is also home to the unique Discovery educational programme boosting confidence, emotional well-being and life-chances of disadvantaged and vulnerable young people and adults through an innovative learning programme that brings them together with gentle rescued horses. The coronavirus pandemic has seen an increase in demand for places to the Discovery programme.
Desi (above) said “I was lucky to grow up with horses and welfare of the horse has always been paramount to me and my work. The horse has been at our side for over 5000 years and Equine Assisted Learning is taking centre stage harnessing the incredible therapeutic power of the horse to support vulnerable people in their learning and development. HorseWorld has been running the Discovery programme for over 14 years and are well placed to tackle the increase of demand for places and their work in this area is already making a significant impact”
CEO Petra Ingram, who has recently joined HorseWorld following 11 years as CEO of Brooke, Action for Working Horses and Donkeys said “I am delighted Desi has agreed to take over as Chair at this important time of development for HorseWorld. Her energy and passion for our work here at HorseWorld coupled with her experience and contacts in the equestrian world will be pivotal to the success of our future strategy.”
