Local Artist is painting to help saved neglected ponies
Claire Timbrell of DaffiRose Art has turned her talents to painting horses with the aim of raising money for Bristol based horse rescue charity, HorseWorld Trust.
HorseWorld Trust rescues horses and ponies from all over the South West. Many of these horses are now thriving on loan homes or have remained at the charity to help with HorseWorld’s Discovery programme, courses designed to nurture children with special educational needs. This was the case for one pony named Buddy who was the inspiration for Claire’s masterpiece.
Claire said: “When I heard Buddy’s story, I knew he would make the perfect muse, a truly inspirational pony who has overcome so much and is now helping disadvantaged children to overcome their own challenges. But I wanted to do more than just paint him, I wanted the painting to help even more horses like Buddy.”
In an amazing act of generosity Claire donated her painting of Buddy, to HorseWorld with the idea the charity could raise money by raffling tickets to win the painting at events throughout the year. The raffle has so far raised more than £500 to help save the lives of the countless horses rescued by HorseWorld Trust.
HorseWorld fundraising manager Stephen Poole said: “We are extremely grateful to Claire for this wonderful painting. The funds she is raising will help us to continue our vital rescue work.”
Mr Poole said: “The lucky winner will be announced in December, if you would like a chance to enter then you can do so at our next Open Day on the 24th of August or, you can visit us at Bristol Harbour Festival 19th – 21st July in the Merchants Quay area for a chance to win!”
