Cheers to Wadworth as they donate £3,000 to support HorseWorld

On Tuesday 3rd December HorseWorld Managing Director Mark Owen was handed a cheque for £3,000 from Charles Bartholomew, the Chairman and Managing Director of the brewery which opened in 1875.

Mr Bartholomew invited Mr Owen down to the Victorian Tower Brewery which is a landmark in the centre of Devizes to hand over their very kind and generous donation. Whilst visiting the extremely unique site Mr Owen also enjoyed a trip around the Visitor Centre and was introduced to three of Wadworth’s beautiful Shire horses, Prince, Monty and Max who all occasionally enjoy a pint of the Wadworth famous 6X after a long days work.

Ex-Wadworth Shire horse Tom was retired to HorseWorld in 2010 with arthiritis in his shoulder. Tom lived a very happy and fulfilled life at HorseWorld where he was loved by many but sadly passed away earlier this year due to his condition worsening. Since 2010 Charles Bartholomew has made many visits to HorseWorld’s Whitchurch based centre to see Tom and also show his continued support for HorseWorld’s ‘Discovery’ Program. Discovery encourages interactive studies with first-hand experience of working with horses in the outdoors. The program is designed for all children and young people to help promote emotional growth and learning.
After handing across the cheque, Charles commented that, “We are delighted to support HorseWorld, which not only rescues and cares for horses which mean so much to us, but we also value and recognise the incredible work which they do through their ‘Discovery’ Programme which helps children with emotional, behavioural and learning issues.”
HorseWorld will use half of the donation to fund two 6-week long Discovery courses for two separate schools and the other half will go towards the core equine rescue and rehabilitation work of the charity.

In response to this wonderful contribution, Sharon Howell, Discovery Course Leader has said that “We are very excited and will welcome Charles back to HorseWorld to hand out certificates to the children who have completed the Discovery courses which Wadworth have funded. We can’t thank Wadworth enough for the continued support and for allowing disadvantaged children to have this opportunity. Thank you.”
