Volunteer Mechanical Pony-Ride Operators

Volunteer Mechanical Pony-Ride Operators At HorseWorld we’re often asked whether children can ride our horses. Unfortunately, as many of our animals have been badly treated in the past, they are not suitable for riding and we are unable to offer this service to our visitors. However, HorseWorld has now acquired “Twinkle”, our very own “mechanical pony”, which provides realistic “simulated horse rides” to children. Twinkle is stationery but will walk, trot and canter, just like a real pony and provides a fun experience for children.

HorseWorld is now looking for volunteers to operate Twinkle in the visitor centre yard. Volunteers should have a friendly, outgoing manner, be approachable and patient with children and possibly have some equine knowledge in order to answer questions from the public. Volunteers are required during both week days and weekends and should be over 15 years old. If you’re looking for a fun role with a difference, please get in touch!

Animal Encounter Volunteers

Animal Encounter Volunteers Children get a real sense of responsibility from handling and learning about caring for animals. At HorseWorld children can meet horses, ponies and donkeys, in the safe and friendly environment of the designated “Touch & Groom” & Animal Encounter areas. We also offer the chance of handling ferrets and meeting our goats, pigs and chickens.

Volunteers are needed to supervise and run these sessions at our Visitor Centre. You will have a friendly and approachable manner and enjoy interacting with children and adults alike. Ideally you will have some basic equine experience in order to be able to handle the ponies and answer visitor’s questions during the Touch and Groom sessions. You will also be happy to handle small animals such as our ferrets. We need your help with this at weekends and on week days during school holidays. Please get in touch if you can help!
