Volunteer Tack Shop Sales Assistant

Volunteer Tack Shop Sales Assistant Would you like to help the HorseWorld fundraising team? Are you friendly and outgoing with lots of enthusiasm and initiative? Then we’d love to hear from you!

The HorseWorld tack shop, located at the visitor centre, is looking for volunteer sales assistants. The shop sells a wide variety of second hand tack, including saddles, bridles and rugs.

Many of the items have been donated to our charity, or are not suitable for our own horses. The shop is proving popular with customers looking for a bargain and we now need your help!

You will assist shop staff with general duties such as greeting customers, answering queries, taking payments and writing receipts. Knowledge of horse tack is a bonus, but not essential to the role, as advice on purchases is provided by shop staff. Likewise, retail experience is a bonus, but more important is a polite and friendly manner and initiative.

The shop is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10.00am – 2.00pm. If you can help on one of these days, please get in touch with the HorseWorld Volunteer Co-ordinator, asap.

Volunteer Ranger

Are you looking for a voluntary role which will make a big difference to HorseWorld whilst also helping our visitor’s to enjoy their time here? If you are friendly and outgoing and enjoy meeting people, this could be for you!

This brand new, high profile, ‘customer services’ role won’t see you stuck behind a counter, but getting out and about on our Visitor Centre yard, engaging with our visitors! You’ll initiate conversation with individuals and families, find out the reason for their visit and talk to them about our welfare work. You might chat about our horses and their individual welfare stories, encourage visitors to sign up for the HorseWorld newsletter or tell them about our welfare tours. Your aim will be to encourage a greater level of support for HorseWorld and interest in our work.

You’ll need to be confident in speaking to the public on a one-to-one basis, particularly in initiating conversation. This is not a hard-sell role! However, you will need to be naturally chatty and enthusiastic about our work and able to commit a few of our ‘stories’ to memory.

We’ll give you loads of support from our Fundraising Team, briefing you fully and accompanying you around the Visitor Centre the first time you do this. We’ll also make sure you’ve been on a tour around our equine welfare yard and are familiar with some of the horses’ stories beforehand. Fundraising staff will also be on hand to pop down and help you out if visitors have any questions you’re not able to answer yourself.

If you’re looking to gain valuable experience in a customer facing role, or are passionate about spreading our welfare message, please get in touch! This role is available in school holidays and at weekends, between approximately 11.00am – 2.30pm
