Education » Rescued Horses

HorseWorld's Visitor Centre is home to more than 30 different rescued horses, donkeys and ponies, and more than 15 other types of animals, each with its own story.

There is no more immediate way to teach the responsibility aspect of the citizenship curriculum than introducing to children, animals that have been neglected, abandoned or mistreated.

Gracie May was abandoned and left to die in a field without food, fresh water or shelter. It was only her great height that enabled her to eat the leaves in the trees that meant she survived.

Today, Gracie is fit and well and a firm favourite with visitors. You can meet this beautiful Shire horse at the Visitor Centre and learn more about her incredible story of survival.
