Rehome Me: Dixie

Dixie came to HorseWorld in 2010 as a very nervous youngster who had been rescued from disgusting conditions. Over time she blossomed into a lovely little mare and you wouldn’t now guess that she has been through such horrible neglect.

Dixie has been backed as a child’s riding pony but whilst on a loan home her behaviour became erratic and she was returned. We soon discovered that Dixie was suffering from a sore back. Though this has improved with rest and treatment, Dixie is no longer ridden. She is now looking for a home as a field companion.

Dixie is generally easy to do and gets along well with other ponies. She is happy to live out all year round but needs restricted grazing in the spring/summer months as she is laminitic. Dixie can get quite attached to her companions so would not be able to be left alone for any period of time.
