All the horses we receive have either suffered abuse or were beyond the capability of their owners to care for. Each one needs its own programme of rehabilitation.
New arrivals at HorseWorld are isolated for three weeks in quarantine before work begins assessing each animal’s state of fitness and its needs.
Our expert staff then begin training, working on each horse’s fitness and behavioural issues in partnership with vets, chiropractors and dentists.
HorseWorld’s Strengthening and Retraining programme aims to bring each horse to the peak of fitness it can achieve.
In rare, straightforward cases this might take three months, but six months to two years is much more common. In some cases, horses will have suffered such problems that they will have to remain in our care for the rest of their lives.
