Monty Roberts and Kelly Marks to make special guest appearance at HorseWorld's Charity Open Day

World famous Horse Whisperers and HorseWorld Patrons, Monty Roberts Kelly Marks will be making a special guest  appearance and giving a demonstration at HorseWorld’s Charity Open Day on Saturday 7th October.

Monty Roberts, also known as the “man who listens to horses”, is a Patron of HorseWorld. He has won countless awards, received immense worldwide press coverage, put three books on the New York Times best-seller list, and has trained some of the Queen’s equestrian team in London.  His pioneering techniques have now become part-and-parcel of equine training across the globe.

On his last visit to HorseWorld, Monty said: “As I observed HorseWorld’s work it became clear that its main goal is to improve the lives of horses and children. By now a great portion of the horse world knows that these two subjects are the prime motivations of my life. Anyone who loves animals should become familiar with this charity and wherever possible assist HorseWorld with its laudable efforts.”

His distinguished UK protégé Kelly Marks is also a Patron of HorseWorld. She is the founder of Intelligent Horsemanship, a UK organisation dedicated to bring the best horsemanship ideas together from around the world in an effort to promote understanding and fair treatment of horses at every opportunity. Kelly and her team run educational courses from Witney, West Oxfordshire.

You will be able to find out about HorseWorld’s adoption and rehoming schemes and have the chance to name the latest ‘arrival’ at HorseWorld, a tiny filly foal born on Sunday. HorseWorld’s Open Day is a great opportunity to see what goes on at a busy animal welfare charity and talk to the grooms and trainers who rescue, nurse back to health, train and then find suitable homes for these wonderful animals. You will be able to meet many of the rescued horses that are now fit and healthy and in the process of rehabilitation. There will be refreshments and HorseWorld merchandise available.

This is a day that is open to everyone including children and disabled. There is just one nature walk that is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies but everything else is easily accessible. There will be the opportunity to go on a walking tour around the 180 acre estate to see the Isolation Unit and Nature Area (Uneven ground. Wellies strongly advised if it's been raining).

Entry and parking are free! Donations towards the charity’s ongoing rescue work and care of the animals are very gratefully received.

No dogs please. Except guide and assistance dogs. This is because many of the rescued ponies in the yard that day have not completed their rehabilitation yet and are not used to being around dogs or may have previously had a negative experience with them.

The Open Day will be held at HorseWorld, Staunton Lane, Whitchurch, Bristol BS14 0QL on Saturday 7th October, 10.30am till 4.00pm
