Nemo came to HorseWorld in February 2013 as part of a large welfare case which involved over 60 equines. The horses were all in an extremely poor condition, full of lice, covered in rain scald and some of the ponies had severe injuries including a few with eye problems. Sadly there were also the remains of some ponies that had not survived. The ponies had been left to breed year after year which resulted in a high number of horses left uncared for.
Nemo was one of the worst emaciation cases out of the group, she was a body condition score of 0.5 out of 5 (3 being ideal) and with her advanced years it was feared that she would not make the journey back to HorseWorld. When she arrived she was at least 100kgs under her ideal weight but she was very keen to get tucked into any food put in front of her and proved us all wrong making a miraculous recovery. She struggles to eat hay due to poor teeth and is now on pain relief for some arthritis but continues to be happy out with her friends.
