Breed: Welsh cob type
Kia came into HorseWorld in August 2015 along with a huge number of other horses. All of them were very nervous of people and very reactive making them difficult to manage.
On arrival she was not in good condition and neither was her young foal Mini. We managed to get her used to eating hard feed from a bucket but as it was obvious her milk had dried up we had to separate the two so they could receive extra care.
Both have now made physical recoveries but Kia has been very reluctant to accept any contact with people. It took a long time to trust people and to accept physical contact but she can now wear a head collar and be groomed, she is also regularly trimmed by the farrier without sedation. Although she is much friendlier and more willing to interact with people, she does still not particularly enjoy being touched.
