Grace came to HorseWorld in January 2016 with a two year old colt called Pilgrim. They had been picked up the night before by B & W Equine Vets after they received a phone call from a concerned member of the public who had seen the two ponies and was very worried about their condition. The initial concern was that they had been hit by a car as Pilgrim had multiple wounds in various locations on his body and so the held them overnight until we could pick them up the next day.
Pilgrim required medical care for his wounds which, after closer examination, it is now suspected were caused by a cart harness and not a vehicle. He also has scarring on his neck which implies he was neck tethered.
We estimated Grace to be about 9 months old and she appeared relatively healthy, she was wormed and blood tested for Strangles but did not require any medical treatment. She was very nervous of people when she arrived and it was clear that she had received very little, if any, handling in the past. However, with consistent and patient training she has come on a long way and is now loves to be around people. She currently spends her time out in the field with a variety of other horses so that she can play and mature. We hope that when she is old enough she will be physically able to be backed to be a ridden pony and find a new loving loan home.
