Tom the Shire Horse retires to HorseWorld

Tom (left) at work in Devizes before he retired. The 18.2hh horse, who measures approximately ten feet from his ears to the ground, is partial to a pint of 6X and has already found himself a new girlfriend  - Gracie May - who was rescued by the equine welfare charity.

HorseWorld's Yard Manager, Karen Hardwick said "we were established in 1952 to provide a retirement home for working horses that were being replaced by motorised vehicles. Tom has been working all of his life, making deliveries for Wadworth Brewery in Devizes, and given our history we were delighted to be able to give him a home".

Tom will now live out the rest of his days at HorseWorld in Whitchurch, Bristol, where he will be a regular resident at the charity's award-winning Visitor Centre.
