Meet Katniss

Katniss was part of a rescue in 2016 along with two other horses. She was extremely nervous and flighty when she was rescued, but along with patient rehabilitation from our team she has come on leaps and bounds in her confidence and training.

Katniss needs somebody who is understanding of her behaviour and is willing and able to spend time building a relationship with her. Katniss can be highly strung when being handled but this is mainly stimulated by the environment around her; she can get more stressed and reactive in a busy and noisy environment, so requires a confident and competent handler.

It was hoped that Katniss would be able to be backed, but sadly she presented with physical issues after beginning the initial stages of her groundwork. After thorough veterinary assessments, Katniss is ready to be rehomed as a non-ridden companion only.

We are looking for a specific type of home for her; a home that is quiet and has a calm atmosphere. Katniss can live happily in a mixed herd. One where she will always have a friend by her side and never be left alone, and with a competent and confident handler that is willing to spend time building a relationship with her.

Whilst Katniss has a few quirks, we truly believe she has the potential to be a wonderful and loving companion in the right home.
