Meet Demi

Demi came to HorseWorld in 2005 with another mare as her previous owners were struggling to care for them. Demi was difficult to catch, so the previous owners had left a headcollar on her which was too small and became embedded in her nose. When Demi arrived at HorseWorld, the headcollar was immediately removed and her wounds treated. She then underwent rehabilitation which increased her confidence around people and improved her catching.

Demi then spent a few years out on loan before returning back to HorseWorld. As Demi was such a great pony, she eventually joined our Discovery programme and proved an asset to the team. She spent many happy years as a Discovery pony before recently retiring. We are now looking to find Demi a loving home in which she can live out a happy retirement.

Demi is great to handle and is good around children. She was always fantastic with the Discovery students and was a firm favourite for many. Demi does have her grumpy moments, mainly if there is food involved but overall she is a sweet and easy pony. She is prone to laminitis and weight gain so must be kept on very restricted grazing/strict diet management. She will happily live out 24/7 or stable as part of a routine. Demi can live in a mixed herd, although she is known to be dominant around other horses in the field, particularly around food, but this is easily combated by ensuring all food is well spread out. Ideally the other horse would be submissive to Demi to ensure there aren't any disagreements.

Demi is now looking for a quieter life as a non-ridden companion where she can live out a happy retirement in a loving, forever home.
