Meet Calypso

Calypso was rescued in July 2019 after being illegally grazed on council land. She came in as a foal at foot with her mum, Epona, who was also pregnant at the time. Like Epona, Calypso was very cautious of humans and never wanted to interact when we entered their field. It took a couple of weeks, and encouragement from her friend Apollo, for her to become comfortable around us.

Calypso’s confidence has progressed incredibly since being with us. She is great to have all of the basic handling done (catching, grooming, farrier etc) and takes everything in her stride. She’s a very friendly girl and gets on with the other horses in her field.

Calypso can live in a mixed herd, she currently lives out 24/7, but will require her grazing to be restricted as she is prone to weight gain. Calypso returned to us from her loan home last year due to breaking through the electric fencing repeatedly so she will only be able to live in fields with post and rail fencing.

Calypso is a very sweet and friendly mare that is a joy to work with. She has passed all of the assessments so far and has the potential to become a ridden/driving pony in the future. She has a weight limit of 6 stone. We would also consider a loving, non-ridden companion home for her.
