Burdock is a Shetland pony who arrived at HorseWorld following an RSPCA rescue in 2006. This poor little pony had been abandoned in a field near a busy road with no one to care for him. He was suffering from a serious respiratory disease which meant that every breath was a struggle.
Upon arrival our Equine Welfare Grooms realised that his coat and mane were tangled full of Burdock Thistles which is how this lovely pony got his name.
Once a horse or pony arrives at HorseWorld they are guaranteed a safe future free from pain or neglect. We provided Burdock with the specialist veterinary care that he so desperately needed and his grooms spent many hours untangling the Burdock Thistles from his beautiful coat.
Burdock is happy now; he has a new family and a chance for happiness however without HorseWorld his could have been a very different story.
HorseWorld’s main source of income is from gifts left to us in Wills, so as you can see a gift in your Will could have an amazing impact on the lives of many horses and ponies just like Burdock.
