Our Trustees
John Newman (Chairman)
John has been a trustee of HorseWorld since 2007 and was appointed Chairman in 2009. He retired in 2006 after a career at senior and general management levels in corporate and merchant banking with mainstream UK and continental European banks and in latter years as a consultant to the commodity trading subsidiary of a major French bank. John is also a director of the charity’s trading subsidiary.
Ernie Hemmings (Vice Chairman)
Ernie is Chairman of the ERH Group, a leading construction and communications company. He is also a farmer and a council member of the British Blue Cattle Association.
Mike Neale FCA (Treasurer)
Mike is Director of Assurance & Business Services at accountancy firm Smith & Williamson. He qualified with the firm in 1978 and was made a partner in 1983. He specialises in advising owner managed businesses in the small to medium sized enterprise (SME) sector. Mike acts for a diverse range of clients and his depth of knowledge allows him to advise on all aspects of the client's business and assist in the growth of the company.
Edward S E Cooke
Edward is a Partner in the leading Bath based law firm Withy King, and heads up their Charities Team. He has considerable experience of working with charities as a trusted legal advisor and at board level;
Recent appointments include trusteeships at the ssGreat Britain and the National Brunel Institute. He is also Chairman of the Wetland Environment Trust (a subsidiary of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust) and past Chairman of the Faculty of Building, Great Western branch.
Edward is a keen sailor and former amateur horseman.
Pam Kemp
Pam has a background in tourism and catering with a local tourist attraction. Other voluntary sector experience includes working with cub scouts in hospitals and as a leader trainer of adults at district and county level. Pam has a keen equine interest and has passed Part 1 of the Equine Touch course. She has been a supporter and trustee of the Friends of Bristol Horses Society and then HorseWorld since 1997, serving as both Chairman and Vice Chairman at various times. She now runs the HorseWorld Thursday Members Club.
Marg Stenner
Marg is married with two children and lives locally in Whitchurch. Horses have been her passion throughout her life and she still keeps two which serves as a practical link for her interest in equine welfare and management. She regularly works as a volunteer on the Visitor Centre admissions desk. Marg is also a member of the Equine Sub Committee.
